Prof. Eliezer Flescher - Chairman
Professor Flescher is a co-founder of Sepal Pharma and has been serving as its Chief Scientific Officer. He discovered the anti-cancer activity of jasmonates and is the world authority in this area. Professor Flescher is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology of Tel Aviv University Medical School. He published over 70 original articles, review papers and book chapters and is the author of the entry on "Jasmonates in cancer therapy" in the Encyclopedia of Cancer. Professor Flescher lectures on Jasmonates and cancer around the world.Professor Flescher has a PhD in Immunology from the Tel Aviv University, Israel and a post-doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, US.
Dr. Ben-Zion Weiner
Dr. Weiner has been with Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries since 1975 and is currently the Chief R&D Officer of the company. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Hebrew University, Israel and conducted his post-doctorate research at Schering-Plough Corporation, USA. Dr. Weiner was granted the Rothschild Prize for Innovation/Export two times for the development of AlphaD3 and for the development of Copaxone©.Professor Pierre Chambon
Professor Chambon is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Strasbourg, and at the "Coll�ge de France". He is a member of the French and of the US Academy of Sciences. Professor Chambon has held several prestigious academic positions at CNRS and INSERM, and serves as President of the Scientific Advisory Board of the French Ministry of Research. He has received several international awards including the Golden Medal of CNRS, the Jeantet and the prestigious Lasker Prize in 2004 for his work on hormones, nuclear receptors and their role in Cancer.Professor Esteban Cvitkovic, MD PhD
Professor Cvitkovic is a medical oncologist specialized in solid tumours and drug development. He was instrumental in defining the clinical utility for registered oncology drugs including cisplatin, oxaliplatin, vindesine, bleomycin, navelbine, amifostine, irinotecan, docetaxel and ET-743 (Trabectidin); while leading concomitant therapeutic advances in germ cell tumours, squamous head and neck cancer, EBV related nasopharyngeal carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, pancreatic cancer and soft tissue sarcomas.Prof. Cvitkovic has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and 600 abstracts focused on therapeutic oncology development. His international carerr includes staff and academic apoitments at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York), Columbia Presbyterian (New York), Instituto Mario Negri (Milan), Institut Gustave Roussy (Villejuif), Hopital Paul Brousse (Villejuif) Hopital Beaujon (Paris), and Hopital St. Louis (Paris).
Prof. Cvitkovic founded the oncology-focused CRO Cvitkovic & Associes Consultants (CAC), which was sold in 2006 to AAIPharma (currently AAIOncology). Prof. Cvitkovic is Scientific President of FNAB, a foundation devoted to advancing personalized cancer treatments and a co-founder of Oncoethix, a biotech company focused on licensing and co-development of anti-cancer molecules. He also holds Board, Scientific Consulting and Executive positions with several companies and specialized investment funds. In addition, he maintains a part-time academic practice.
John Dixon
John Dixon has 36 years experience in Pharmaceutical Research & Development in several therapeutic areas. He was Head of Medicinal Chemistry for 20 years at Fisons, Vice President of Preclinical R&D in Astra Charnwood for 4 years and Vice President of Drug Discovery at AstraZeneca Charnwood for 9 years.He invented one marketed drug and several others reaching advanced stages of Development. As VP of AstraZeneca Charnwood he delivered 29 candidate compounds. Currently 2 Charnwood compounds are in Phase III and 3 in Phase IIb.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Member of the American Chemical Society he served on several professional and academic advisory committees and recently was awarded an honorary D.Sc. from Loughborough University.
He retired from AstraZeneca in July 2008 and is now Director of JD International Consulting Ltd.
